Druim nan Linntean, Gaelic for ‘ridge of ages’, is the Skye Ecomuseum, an outdoor museum consisting of around 50 installations between the Old Man of Storr to the Quiraing. The ecomuseum presents stories of the past, use of the land, local flora and fauna and encourages visitors to explore its hidden waterfalls, dinosaur footprints and traditional ways of life.
Community workshops formed a key part of the design process where the team focused around a large map of the ecomuseum area, with locals and visitors encouraged to suggest the stories of their landscape and community.
Following a detailed design process Lateral North worked with Glasgow Sculpture Studios to fabricate corten steel and timber structures which
will settle into the landscape and present the history, culture and nature from throughout this ridge of ages.
