We were appointed to deliver an exhibition which worked with young people and told stories of the First World War specific to Scotland. Our approach was to work with Scotland’s five print studios where we wanted 100 students to tell 100 stories 100 years on from the First World War Armistice.
We researched 100 Scottish people and place based stories during the first world war period. These stories were expressed through traditional print techniques designed by top students from around the country. Every print matrix was displayed within a series of timber plinths which joined to form the Scottish land mass. Each print was activated through augmented reality where the visitor could access the full story of the print through an iPad.
The exhibition was opened by Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon in the Scottish Parliament in September 2019. Following the success of the design the Government and Poppy Scotland have commissioned the design to travel to 10 venues throughout the country in 2019/2020.
