Nordic House

Hosted at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh during the Edinburgh International Festival of 2015, Nordic House was an exploration of the different art, stories and people of the Nordic countries, and asked a simple question: is Scotland Nordic too?

Focused around a timber map showing Scotland’s geographical position in relation to the rest of the Nordic countries, the exhibition brought together a series of artists from throughout the region. Nordic House explored themes such as land use, hutting, fishing, architectural master planning and others within the northern climbs, while also creating playful, family-friendly opportunities within the exhibition.

Commissioned by Lesley Riddoch and Nordic Horizons, and funded by the Nordic Art Fund, Lateral North led the design of the exhibition and worked closely with each artist to showcase their unique work as a coherent exhibition piece.
