Lateral North were commissioned to create a series of interpretation panel designs celebrating some of Skye's iconic sites.

We created a series of unique interpretation designs, for The Quiraing, The Stor and The Fairy Pools. With each site welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, it was important that the signage stood out. At the same time the interpretation had to blend well with the natural surroundings.

Each design combines a modern design style with corten steel frames. This gives a strong contrast as well as an earthy look and feel to the structures – following the work we had done for Druim nan Linntean.

Although the design style is consistent, each location has it’s own colour palette. For example Fairy Pools has a more blue/purple hue where as The Stor is yellow/green.

We didn’t want the interpretation to look like so many that have been seen before. Each design was created as an unusual shape, rather than a generic rectangular ‘frame’.
